Road Blocks

When I was younger I would pick up my friends and drive them to school. One day the normal route to school was closed due to an accident up ahead. The closure happened so fast that they had not set up detour signs yet. Several things could have happened at the moment. I could of froze and sat there. Yes getting honked at, and probably ridiculed by my friends. I could have followed other cars, not knowing where they were going, I may have gone in the wrong direction. Or I could have diverted down another street that I knew would get me to where I needed to go.

I choose the last option.

Why? Because I had driven that path before and I was aware of where and how it would get me to school. I was confident in my decision because of my knowledge of the street. In fact, I was prepared to go several streets over and take multiple different paths. I knew all of them and I knew how each one would get me to school.

The same thing happens in our own lives. We have a destination that we want to get to but roadblocks and obstacles will present themselves. Just like in my experience back in high school you have to plan for these issues ahead of time and know which way you can and will go. By doing your homework you will eliminate hesitation, so you can pivot quickly and continue onto your destination.

If you do not do your homework, fear, doubt, and hesitation will sink in. You may freeze and wonder if you should continue to go to your planned destination. You may think that this roadblock is a sign from God, or other source, telling you not to go.

So take the time ahead of time, when planning out your trip or goals and laying out your path. Plan for obstacles and roadblocks. Be ready to pivot and take a different path.

You can do this!
